Meet Dawn Brockman
Dawn and her husband Scott know the value of public education. Together, they’ve raised two children here in Norman, a daughter who graduated in 2022 and a son who is currently a junior at Norman North. A life-long educator, Dawn and her family are invested in Norman Public Schools.
Dawn’s passion is public education. With a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and Law Degree from the University of Oklahoma, Dawn began her teaching career at her alma mater, Putnam City North, later working for the Oklahoma State School Boards Association as a staff attorney. After leaving OSSBA, Dawn continued her journey as a teacher with over twenty years in the classroom, including fourteen years at Norman High School where she also served as Student Congress Advisor. Dawn’s commitment to the principles of inclusive leadership led her to the Oklahoma Association of Student Councils where she served as executive director working with students, teachers, and schools statewide as a mentor and advisor. After leaving the k-12 classroom, Dawn served as the Director of Alumni Relations and University Development for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma until March of 2024. Dawn now serves as the Dean of Students at USAO, where she also teaches Latin.

During her career working in education, Dawn has seen first hand the struggles our students, staff, and teachers face daily with declining funding, limited resources, and diminished support from our state government. She understands the real challenges our teachers and children are facing in today’s classroom. She also knows that in order to tackle these challenges, we have to come together as a community. Dawn is committed to getting to work to make Norman Public Schools the Gold Standard for education not only in Oklahoma but in the Nation. She knows that together, we can create solutions that have the power to make a difference for all our kids.
